There was much talk at the time that Russia was preparing for a major offensive on the one-year anniversary of the war, but Robert C. Castel warned that the realistic conditions were not in place at the time. We have since learned that no such Russian offensive took place, but that a stalemate was beginning to develop on the front.
Another important topic was the impact of the war on the countries allied with Ukraine, on which Robert C. Castel said, among other things, that "If Europe puts all its eggs in one basket and loses with Ukraine, it will be left without protection."
