Dr. Carrie Madej is the Medical Director of Phoenix Medical Group of Georgia, where she has a full time practice in Internal Medicine. Upon receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology at Central Michigan University she went on to graduate with honors from Kansas City University of Medical Biosciences- College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2001, where she trained at Kansas City, Tampa, and her hometown of Detroit. She then went on to complete her training at The Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia for her Osteopathic Internship and then to Mercer University in Macon, Georgia for her Internal Medicine Residency.
Within Dr. Carrie practice, she focuses on prevention of illness and achieving each persons optimal wellness through nutrition, lifestyle modifications, vitamin therapy, bioidentical hormone therapy, detoxing, identifying and treating chronic infections/allergens, as well as integrating other services such as chiropractic care, physical therapy, and counseling to list just a few. The goal is identifying the root cause(s) of each person¼s symptoms so the best treatment may be given rather than simply treating the symptoms. If these conservative measures do not achieve the desired goal, then drugs and or surgery may be advised for a patient. She believes in combining the best of all types of medicine for a treatment plan that is unique to each individual so that chronic illnesses may be alleviated and acute illnesses may be avoided.
Her passion is educating patients and medical students/professionals of this type of medicine, which some people may call â??Functional Medicine.â?? Dr. Carrie views it simply as Good Medicine since none of these modalities are new to us, they have just been forgotten over the years. She continues to search for better ways to improve patient care through research and learning from other medical professionals. She is an Associate Attending for the Pennsylvania College of Osteopathic Medicine- Georgia Campus, where she mentors students in clinical applications of Internal Medicine. She has recently been featured in the documentary â??The Marketing of Madness- Are We All Insane as well as being a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American Academy of Osteopathic Physicians, American College of Physicians, Georgia Osteopathic Medical Association, and International Hormone Society.
