Nitrogen 2000 is a 45-minute documentary about the struggle of Dutch farmers in 2019-23.
70% of the Netherlands is owned by smallholder farmers and since 2019 the Dutch government has been pushing for a 50% compulsory purchase of their land. This means nationalising a third of the Netherlands' land. Will this plan be implemented? Will farmers be able to resist this intervention?
